Looking for a companion
for your journey?

Spiritual direction is the ancient practice of listening to another person’s story, with an ear towards the holy weavings and tuggings.

During a spiritual direction session, space is lovingly tended for you to listen deeply to yourself and to the gentle nudges of the Spirit; for you to explore the stirrings of your soul.

Inner Ground is pleased to provide a resource list of available Spiritual Directors that you may access as you search for a companion. Inner Ground is not involved other than to offer this resource list. We encourage you to prayerfully approach the process of finding a companion to guide your spiritual journey. By accessing and using this resource page, you accept responsibility for interviewing and selecting a suitable spiritual companion.

Alice Kirkman Kunka

Life as Pilgrimage

919.599.0056
alicekunka@gmail.com

Available to meet in person (post-Covid) in Greensboro, NC or via virtual format. Suggests a rhythm of once a month for one hour.
Fee: $60, with a willingness to adjust as needed.

Alice is an ordained minister who completed her graduate theological studies at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. She holds a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from The Northern Piedmont School of Spiritual Direction. In over twenty-five years in ministry, she has served congregations and communities in the Triangle and Triad in the areas of spiritual formation and Latinx ministries.

The metaphor of “Life as Pilgrimage” provides a framework for her ministry of spiritual direction. Sometimes in our pilgrimage the focus may be on finding our calling in life, or perhaps the search for meaning, beauty and joy. At other times, our pilgrimage may seem filled with doubt, darkness, or suffering. But through the exploration of divine grace in our lives, we find hope.

Alice is currently expanding her understanding of the Enneagram through the Core Narrative Enneagram Program and is honing her skills as a spiritual director and retreat leader through the mentoring program of Abbey of the Arts. Her deep appreciation of music and art are often woven into her ministry of spiritual direction.
