Monica Citty Hix

Founding Director

Monica Citty Hix is a musician, minister, artist, spiritual companion and the Founding Director of Inner Ground, Inc. She holds a BM from Meredith College, a MDiv/Sacred Music from SEBTS, a Certificate in Non-Profit Leadership from WFU and a Certificate in Spiritual Formation from Columbia Theological Seminary. In addition, she completed Drum Circle Facilitation with Christine Stevens and Expressive Arts training through Abbey of the Arts. Monica is passionate about cultivating space where folks can discover community, explore a variety of spiritual practices and nourish their inner journey. In addition to her work with Inner Ground, she serves as Minister of Music at First Friends Meeting in Greensboro, NC and occasionally facilitates classes in the spirituality program at CTS.

 

Tica Green

Chairperson of the Board

Tica Green is the Director of Academic Success and an adjunct professor at Greensboro College. She enjoys working with students and young adults and is committed to enriching and edifying the lives of those she serves. She is an active member in her church, Maranatha Fellowship Church; a dedicated volunteer with Girl Scouts of America; and actively participates and assists with religious life and campus ministry at Greensboro College. She is a mother of two wonderful teenaged children. Tica is passionate about servant leadership and is grateful to connect her passion with the ministry Inner Ground.

Ginger Burkhead

The Entrepreneurial/Creative Program Mind - brings an entrepreneurial spirit to evolving current programming and developing new programming. 

A nurse and an educator, Ginger brings a unique and creative perspective to consider the many ways that Inner Ground can meet people where they are and offer a way to look inside oneself. This introspection and community will take on many forms with the goal of continuing the spiritual journey wherever it may lead. 

 

Karen Hornfeck

The Marketing Maven - helps refine the implicit promise of what Inner Ground offers people, the audience we serve, and develops clear language to apply to creative marketing opportunities

Karen Hornfeck is vice president at Guilford Education Alliance, a nonprofit focused on galvanizing community support for Guilford County Schools. She is a passionate social justice advocate, seeker, an intuitive, a mother to three beautiful adult kids and a devoted partner to her husband Dan.  Karen believes being quiet within ourselves allows us to hear the voice of Spirit clearly and is grateful that Inner Ground holds space for listening and contemplation in so many beautiful ways.

Brooks Johnson

The Individual Donor Cultivator - helps identify and build relationships with potential donors.

Brooks is a chaplain serving as Manager of Chaplaincy Services at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center. As a past recipient of Inner Ground’s Interlude Retreat, Brooks knows the importance of a strong donor base to support all of IG’s offerings. His passion for the care of souls along life’s journey coupled with his personal experience with Interlude and other IG offerings supports him in building connections with future donors. An avid fan of nature, he and his family can be found hiking, cycling, running, or playing in a body or water all over NC.

Phil Hix

The Revenue Keeper - handles the financial business for Inner Ground.

Phil Hix is part of the Global Supply Planning Team for Commscope. He brings his passion for spreadsheets and numbers to his position as the Revenue Keeper for Inner Ground.
